Members of the Surf Industry Manufacturers Association (SIMA) are entitled to many different benefits and services. These programs are designed to help member companies’ businesses save money while enhancing business operations.


Surf Summit

Each year, questions and other important issues facing the surf industry are addressed at the surf industry’s annual conference: Surf Summit in Los Cabos, B.C.S., Mexico. The goal of the four-day, three-night Surf Summit is to learn, share ideas, network and help shape the future of the surf industry. Surf Summit is a member and invitation only event. SIMA members receive first priority and membership discounts to Surf Summit.

The SIMA Insights Committee was challenged by the SIMA Board of Directors to conduct a consumer study in order to give the membership and industry true insight into the size and make up of the consumer base that surfs, buys surf products and/or are interested in surfing. SIMA’s Consumer Insights Study reveals how big the overall surf-inspired consumer market is and explores the make up of the consumer profiles that define the surf consumer – including demographics, psychographics and buying behavior.

Environmental Activism & Support

SIMA actively supports oceanic environmental efforts through its 501 (c)(3) charitable environmental foundation, the SIMA Environmental Fund. The SIMA Environmental Fund’s largest fundraiser is SIMA’s annual Waterman’s Weekend, which has raised more than $7 million for the environment over the past 27 years. SIMA members receive invitations and special pricing for the annual sold-out Waterman’s Weekend.

Humanitarian Activism & Support

Established in 2006, the SIMA Humanitarian Fund awards grants to surf or boardsport related humanitarian non-profit organizations dedicated to improving the quality of life, health and/or welfare of people.

What Surf Summit is to Cabo, SIMA Boot Camp is to Orange County. The goal of the SIMA Boot Camps is to allow SIMA members to benefit from intimate seminars on an ongoing basis that aim to provide valuable tips and tools to help their companies improve a variety of daily business operations. SIMA members receive first priority and membership discounts on all SIMA Boot Camps.

Public Relations & Publicitysessions_thumb

SIMA’s in-house public relations and publicity efforts are designed to increase awareness of the surf industry in order to grow your business. Efforts include promoting industry statistics and SIMA events in both the surf media and mainstream media. SIMA members directly receive all SIMA press releases and media announcements.


Trade Shows

One of SIMA’s most important jobs is to actively evaluate and endorse surf industry trade shows that will most effectively bring your products to market. SIMA actively endorses the Surf Expo trade shows. In addition, SIMA makes available a complimentary on-site hospitality lounge/business center to its members at these shows. Members may use this center during show hours for meetings.
